Book discussion: ‘Translating political violence and human solidarity’

University of Brighton
A discussion with Hanna Komar, a poet and activist who served nine days in a Belarusian prison for her peaceful protest. The session will focus on her recently published book, When I’m Out of Here: Staying Human in a Dictator’s Jail. Initially bilingual, the book is a tale of resistance and friendship, absurdity and bravery, as Hanna shares her insights on female solidarity and survival. Together, we will explore alternative ways of writing about and translating political violence and women's resistance.
The discussion is part of the conference 'Linguistic Cartographies: narratives of displacement and belonging Info Location Contact'
